It’s time for the second annual FREE Defend Lawrence 5K to mark the 152nd anniversary of Quantrill’s raid on Lawrence.

On Friday, August 21, come meet the people behind Ad Astra Running — Lawrence’s new, locally owned running store — and run with others in our local running community.

We’ll gather at the future site of Ad Astra Running, near Eighth and New Hampshire streets (16 E Eighth St.), at 5 a.m. with defensive maneuvers (a.k.a. the run) starting at 5:05. (That’s a.m.! And don’t be late: The town is counting on you!)

Post-run refreshments for all local heroes (a.k.a. runners). The run will be free and untimed, and traffic will not be stopped.
